Baked Beans

Baked Beans

Soak 2 c. dried navy beans overnight in cold water.

Drain in the morning, add 2 qt. water and 1 tsp. salt.

Cook slowly until skins burst.

Fry bacon until crisp.

Add bacon and drippings to beans in a baking dish.

Add:

1/2 c. ketchup

1/3 c. brown sugar

1/2 onion, diced

1 c. tomato juice

4 Tbsp. molasses

a pinch of ground ginger

2 tsp. salt

**********************************************************************

Bake at 325* for 3 hours.

Keep beans covered with liquid while they cook.

Add more water as needed.
