"National Brain Washing Day"

It is all over FB, the news, and the net that the President will be making an UNSCRIPTED 30 minute address to public schooled children next Tuesday with 'follow-up curriculum' so the kids can suggest how they can help him do a better job. Anyone opposing this address so labeled a 'racist', 'right-wing nutter' , 'uneducated' and many many other hateful things.

I home school so obviously it doesn't affect my children but I do have many friends that have public schooled children. I am trying to put out the message "KEEP YOUR CHILDREN HOME"  for the rest of their education that day and so far it is not having much success. People either can't afford for a parent to stay home with them, don't want to seem 'racist', or just don't see the harm in letting the President have full unchecked access to their children. After all he is the President what harm could it do? I think the same was said of Hitler and his talks to the youth back then. I mean of course Government access to children is a good thing! *snarkiness overload there*

This afternoon my friend, Tiny Kittenz, let me in on a great read over at the Greenroom about this subject so I am passing it on.

And make sure to stop by Spunky Homeschool for even more on this

I liked this quote "The President of the United States — whether an Obama a Bush or a Lincoln — is not my son’s daddy." and as the 'stranger' they are to me personally will not have unsupervised access to my child!

Congrats Duggars!! #19 on the way!

never argue with women

This is an email from my inbox this week...just had to share the giggles
One morning, after her husband returns after several hours of
fishing and decides to take a nap, his wife decides to go out on their boat...
Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out, and after she motors out a short distance, she anchors, and reads her book.

A short while later along comes a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, "Good morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?"

"Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, "Isn't that obvious?")

"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her

"I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading"

"Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and write you up."

"For reading a book," she replies.

"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her again,

"I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading"

"Yes, but you have all the equipment.. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and write you up."

"If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman.

"But I haven't even touched you," says the game warden.

"That's true, but you have all the equipment.   For all I know you could start at any moment."

"Have a nice day ma'am," and he left.

MORAL:    Never argue with a woman who reads. It's likely she can also think.

friend makin Monday

1. Do you cook every night?
I try to. If Hubby is home it is YES. If it is just me and the youngen's well then it is praying for left overs or sandwiches.

2. What kind of laundry detergent do you use & why?
We are currently using a homemade laundry soap and Costco brand softener mixed with vinegar for most loads. I also have Costco brand HE soap that I found I had to buy when Hubby's work clothes still stank even after washing. Can't have that!

3. Do you do laundry every day or loads at a time?
I would love to say we do it daily and it is all nice and put away... but that would be a lie. My usual method is when the kids announce "Mom, we have NO undies or clean shorts to wear and xyz starts in 2 hours!!!" only then do I grab stuff and do a load. Otherwise it is when I can't find the laundry room floor and then an all day laundry fest ensues. Hubby has asked that this be stopped so I am working on it.

4. How often do you eat out per week? hmmm, it is Monday and we already ate out today. Some weeks it is A LOT. Some weeks never. depends on if we are in town, if I am sick, or if we are out running errands.

5. Where do you usually eat out? Chili's, fast food places, Cracker Barrel (if in the city)

6. What is your favorite retail store?
Eddie Bauer. the online store that is. I am 5'10 and they carry clothes that are modest and fit me!

7. What's your favorite thing to drink? everyday- Coke. if we have it or I am pregnant- chocolate milk from Braum's

8. Do you take vitamins? What kind?
when I remember! whole food prenatals from the health store

9. What percentage of the household chores to you do? depends on the day and if the children are 'helping'

10. Do your children do chores? {Or will they, did they, etc} yes, they clean their rooms, do the dishes, pick up the living room, put away their own laundry, tidy their bathroom

11. Do you go to church?
yes, we go to '2nd service' but starting this weekend we will be there for both services to help out at the front kiosk

12. Do you have a housework schedule? NO

13. Do you keep a working budget? I should say "yes" since we did Financial Peace University last spring. BUT we slacked off big time this summer. Hubby just sat down yesterday and made a new one. We have so many 'projects' around the house we need to start saving and get to it.

14. What do you do at night as a family? we watch movies on Netflix or just sit and talk. Tonight Hubby has out the new microscope and is teaching the kids about what skin cells.

15. How do you prepare yourself for a new week? hahaha! I don't!

16. What do your mornings look like? crawl out of bed, eat, watch the children do their school on the computers, maybe some chores

17. What time do you get up in the mornings? whenever I can wake up finally. Sometimes it is 6am when Hubby leaves... Most times it is 8-9:30

18. What time do you go to bed at night?
I am in bed with Hubby when he goes to bed. Once he is asleep I may be online or watch a movie. I am a night owl and fall asleep around 1am.

19. How do you manage all of the paperwork that floods into your household? {bills, school work, magazines, ads, etc} the wonderful 'pile it' method.

20. How do you keep your household organized? {calendars, charts, etc} *snort* I don't :/

After writing this out I am seeing an aweful pattern! I need and I mean *NEED* to get organzied!!
