More Train Museum pics

This is one of I think a dozen custom trains ever built. It sat 6 people and was steered like a truck

Now I know someone is going to come and correct me on my train knowledge or lack there of. If anyone has info on the trains pictured I would love to add it to the photos!

new summer hair cuts

On Monday, the 2st, to start our busy week of VBS/Mission Trip I took the kids for haircuts. Princess didn't stick around for pics because she was too excited about her trip.

Bub thinks his new hair cut is a "Mohawk"   shhh ;)
Photobucket

BOO!
Photobucket

Princess just had a little trim to shape up her layers. She is growing her hair out from last summer's bob cut. Not sure how long she will let it grow.

sorry about the lousy photos. no one wanted to sit still
and my phone takes bad photos at times

PLUM JELLY

5 lb. plums
7 1/2 c. sugar
1 box Sure-Jell (fruit pectin)
1 1/2 c. water
Pit, do not peel, plums. Finely chop or grind fruit. Place in large saucepan, add 1 1/2 cups water. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. To extract juice, place prepared fruit in a dampened jelly bag or several thicknesses of cheese cloth. Allow ample time for juice to drip through. When dripping is almost ceased, or to speed up the extraction, gently press or squeeze bag.Use 5 1/2 cups of juice, place juice in large saucepan. Stir in fruit pectin, bring to a full rolling boil, immediately stir in sugar, bring to a full rolling boil stirring continuously. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Skim off foam, place in prepared jelly jars.
Preparation of jelly jars: Place jars in boiler or cooking utensil sufficiently deep to allow water to flow over top of jars, bring to a boil. Fill with jelly while still hot, wipe rim with a damp cloth to remove any jelly. Place lids, that have been heated in hot water, on jars, tighten rings over lids, return to boiler and boil for 5 minutes at slow boil. Remove from water and allow to cool.

curbside freebie part deux

So after all lots of blood, sweat and tears here is the curbside freebie I posted about.
Photobucket

Hubby added beadboard inside the new bookcase area for me tonight. This weekend we will make and install the shelves.Currently it is still in primer white but I did put on a "aged wood" Deco-arts medium over the primer so that once it is finished all the areas of wallpaper I could not remove HOPEFULLY will not show up.

BUT...

The children are still fighting over the paint color. We have bought a beautiful sea glass color paint to go on it and of course someone wants blue, someone wants white and someone wants red with black stripes and flames like a race car! OH BOY!

So white she stays till my oldest comes home from Mission Trip this weekend and they can fight it out.

I am tired. Too many irons came to the fire this week. I have taught VBS 5 hrs a day, doctors and dentist appointments, tried to catch up on laundry and house work, at least half dozen craft project litter my living room in various states of completion, had company for a week, had impromptu scrapbook day with 2 friends and 8 total children in my house, 20 lbs of plums sit in the fridge waiting to be canned, the dresser hell re-make, a Hubby come home with near sun stroke, a child on Mission Trip and a sick child who needs teeth pulled and must finish school in the next 2 weeks!

Disclaimer / Investigate: The intent of this website is to raise awareness about the controversial aspects of vaccination. Many vaccines still contain thimerosal (49.6% ethylmercury by weight.) While mercury is a highly toxic element second only to radioactive plutonium, when combined with other ingredients, specifically aluminum and formaldehyde, the synergistic effects increase 10,000-fold. Individuals who suffer from chronic mercury exposure will have a unique expression of symptoms. Houston, we have a problem

The dresser rehab is out of control! Flames may as well be shooting off it because we have total system FAILURE!

On Sunday afternoon Hubby ripped off the top weird piece, sawed/busted out the shelves and center and removed some of the hardware. Then we went back to work, VBS and packed my oldest off on Mission Trip. In the meantime I researched what type of stripper to use, picked out a paint color and bought supplies.

Then I found out the hard way... stripper does NOT work outside at all when you live just a few exits north of hell. The 100+ temp (before noon) dries it out too fast to work. I bought the good stuff that strips anything in 15 min or less. Still can't compete with the Texas heat. UGH. I also learned that stripper hurts worse than fire ants' stings when the wind blows off it the chip brush onto bare legs. OUCH! And that odorless mineral spirits makes the pain go away but one is still left with red burn marks. Interesting tid-bit... flies, wasps, caterpillars and ants love them some Strip-X and flock to it like Mecca... just thought I would share in case anyone is allergic or phobic like I am, ahem.

I have managed to get the sandpaper texture off and the layers of paint and WALLPAPER off 50% of the cabinet.*happy dance*

This afternoon we are getting a power sander when we go to town to teach VBS.
Right now I am going to mineral spirit the dresser so it can be brought back inside and clean up my HAZMAT mess off my concrete before the Code Enforcer drives by.
