31 Days of Praying for Your Husband

31 Days of Praying for Your Husband
by Nancy Leigh DeMoss

“She does him good . . .” (Proverbs 31:12a)

Bless your husband by praying for him! The Apostle Paul instructed all Christians to pray for one another (Ephesians 6:18). This includes wives’ responsibility and privilege to pray for their husbands. Earnest prayer for your husband is good for him, for you and the spiritual health of your home (Proverbs 31:11-12).

Satan desires to destroy your husband, especially his character and his leadership in your relationship. Trust God through prayer as you daily surrender your husband and marriage to the Lord’s wise, loving care.

Day 1
Pray that your husband will grow spiritually and consider his accountability before the Lord. Pray that he will guard his heart by developing spiritual disciplines—Bible reading and study, prayer, meditation, scripture memorization, etc. (2 Peter 3:18; Prov. 4:23)

Day 2
Pray that your husband’s relationship with God and His Word will bear fruit in his life. Pray that he will be a man of wisdom and understanding, fearing the Lord. (Prov. 3:7, 9:10; Ps. 112:1)

Day 3
Pray that your husband will be humble and quick to agree with God about his sin. Pray that his heart will be tender toward the voice of the Lord. (Ps. 51:2-4; Micah 6:8)

Day 4
Pray that your husband will grow in leadership skills in your relationship—protecting and providing for you. Pray that he will lead you wisely and love you sacrificially, so that God will be glorified in your marriage. (Eph. 5:25-29; Col. 3:19)

Day 5
Pray that your husband will be faithful to his wedding vows. Pray that he will have a desire to cultivate your relationship as a sign of his loyalty and commitment to you, and as a picture of Christ’s love for the Church. (Prov. 20:6; Gen. 2:24)

Day 6
Pray that your husband will love righteousness and hate wickedness, especially the evils of the culture. Pray that he will recognize and avoid wickedness in his own life, and if necessary, take a clear, strong stand against evil. (Prov. 27:12; John 17:15; 1 Cor. 10:12-13)

Day 7
Pray that your husband will safeguard his heart against inappropriate relationships with the opposite sex. Pray that his heart will be pure and undivided in his commitment to you. (Prov. 6:23-24, 26; Rom. 13:14)

Day 8
Pray that your husband will work hard to provide for your family, to the best of his ability. Pray that the character qualities necessary for a successful career and ministry will be a growing part of his character—persistence, decisiveness, strength, an analytical mind, organizational skills, positive relationships with people, determination, etc. (Rom. 12:11; 1 Cor. 15:58)

Day 9
Pray that your husband handle finances wisely, will have discernment concerning budgeting and investments, and will be a good steward of his money in regard to giving to the Lord’s work. Pray that money will not become a source of discord in your family. (Prov. 23:4-5; Rom. 12:13; Heb. 13:5)

Day 10
Pray that your husband will cultivate strong integrity, and not compromise his convictions. Pray that his testimony will be genuine, that he will be honest in his business dealings, and will never do anything that he needs to hide from others. (Prov. 20:7; 1 Tim. 1:5, 3:7; Eph. 6:10-12)

Day 11
Pray that your husband will have a humble, teachable spirit and a servant’s heart before the Lord. Pray that he will listen to God and desire to do His will. (Prov. 15:33; Eph. 6:6)

Day 12
Pray that your husband will yield his sexual drive to the Lord and practice self control. Pray that your sexual intimacy together will be fresh, positive, and a reflection of selfless love. (Prov. 5:15, 18; 1 Cor. 7:3; Song of Solomon 7:10)

Day 13
Pray that your husband use practical skills to build your family and make wise decisions for your welfare. Pray that he will serve unselfishly. (Gal. 5:13; Phil. 2:3-4)

Day 14
Pray that your husband will speak words that build you and your family, and reflect a heart of love. Pray that he will not use filthy language. (Prov. 18:21; Eph. 4:29)

Day 15
Pray that your husband will choose his friends wisely. Pray that God will bring him men who will encourage his accountability before God, and will not lead him into sin. (Prov. 13:20; Prov. 27:17)

Day 16
Pray that your husband will choose healthy, God-honoring activities. Pray that he will not live in bondage to any questionable habits or hobbies, but that he will experience freedom in holiness as he yields to the Spirit’s control. (1 Cor. 6:12, 10:31; 2 Tim. 2:4)

Day 17
Pray that your husband will enjoy his manliness as he patterns his life after Christ and strong men in the faith. Pray for his physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual strength. (Eph. 3:16; 1 Peter 2:21; 1 Cor. 10:11)

Day 18
Pray that your husband will have an eternal perspective—living in light of eternity. Pray that he will reject materialism and temporal values and put God first in his life. (Matt. 6:33; Deut. 6:5; Eph. 5:16; Ps. 90:12)

Day 19
Pray that your husband will be patient and a man of peace. Pray that he will not give in to anger, but will allow the Holy Spirit to control his responses. (Rom. 14:19; Ps. 34:14)

Day 20
Pray that your husband will yield his mind and thoughts to the Lord. Pray that he will not entertain immoral or impure thoughts, and that he will resist the temptation to indulge in pornography. (Prov. 27:12; 2 Cor. 10:5)

Day 21
Pray that your husband will learn how to relax in the Lord and, in his greatest times of stress, find joy and peace in his relationship with God. Pray that he will submit his schedule to the Lord. (Neh. 8:10; Prov. 17:22; Ps. 16:11)

Day 22
Pray that your husband will practice forgiveness in your relationship and with others. Pray that he will recognize any roots of bitterness, and yield any resentment and unforgiving attitudes to the Lord. (Eph. 4:32; Heb. 12:15)

Day 23
Pray that your husband will be a good father—disciplining his children wisely and loving them unconditionally. If he is not a father, pray that he will find a young man to mentor in the things of the Lord. (Eph. 6:4; Col. 3:21; 2 Tim. 2:1-2)

Day 24
Pray that your husband will have a balanced life—that he will balance work and play. Pray that he will fear God, but also gain favor with people he knows at work and church. (Luke 2:52; Prov. 13:15)

Day 25
Pray that your husband will be courageous in his stand against evil and injustice, and that he will stand for the truth. Pray that he will protect you and your family from Satan’s attacks. (Ps. 31:24; Eph. 6:13; Ps. 27:14)

Day 26
Pray that your husband will discover and live his God-given purpose. Pray that he will offer all his dreams to the Lord, and pursue only those goals that will bring God glory and count for eternity. (Jer. 29:11; 1 Cor. 10:31)

Day 27
Pray that your husband will understand the importance of taking care of his body—the temple of the Holy Spirit—for the glory of God. Pray that he will practice self-control by making wise food choices, and get sufficient exercise to stay healthy. (Rom. 12:1-2; 1 Cor. 6:19-20, 9:27)

Day 28
Pray that your husband will be a man of prayer. Pray that he will seek and pursue God in purposeful quiet times. (1 Thess. 5:17; Luke 22:46; James 5:16)

Day 29
Pray that your husband will surrender his time and talents to the Lord. Pray that his spiritual gifts will be manifest in his career, at church, and in your home. (Eph. 5:15-16; 1 Cor. 12:4, 7)

Day 30
Pray that your husband will serve God and others with pure motives. Pray that he will obey the Lord from his heart, and glorify Him in everything. (1 Cor. 10:13; John 7:17-18; Col. 3:23-24)

Day 31
Pray that your husband will recognize the lies of the Enemy in his life. Pray that his attitudes and actions will be guided by the truth as he brings his thoughts into captivity to the Word of God. (John 8:44; 2 Cor. 10:4-5)

Job 42

(New King James Version)

Job 42

Job’s Repentance and Restoration
1 Then Job answered the LORD and said: 2 “I know that You can do everything,
And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.
3 You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
 4 Listen, please, and let me speak;
You said, ‘I will question you, and you shall answer Me.’
5 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear,
But now my eye sees You.
 6 Therefore I abhor myself,
And repent in dust and ashes.”
7 And so it was, after the LORD had spoken these words to Job, that the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. 8 Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.
9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the LORD commanded them; for the LORD had accepted Job. 10 And the LORD restored Job’s losses[a] when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. 11 Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the LORD had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.
12 Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. 13 He also had seven sons and three daughters. 14 And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch. 15 In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.
16 After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations. 17 So Job died, old and full of days.
 ______

Last Saturday I was really struggling with the pain and heart ache of the ectopic pregnancy. I was talking to Hubby and saying how it isn't fair, why me, is it a punishment from God, and how much I wish I was still expecting. A real pity party! Hubby just held me and agreed with some of what I said and rebuked me for the other parts. I asked him to hand me the Bible thinking we should start reading a Proverb a day. Instead the Bible fell open to Job 42.

Oh my! Talk about a word from God! Here was poor Job having some of the same feelings I was and God talking him through them. The part that got me was once Job repented and stopped demanding for things to be as they were...THEN God was able to come in and restore him!

I don't have to understand WHY this happened. The Lord knows and it is not for me to question Him. God hears me. He understands my pain. He wants to heal my heart and give me good things. It is not a punishment it was to pull me closer to Him. Now that I have stepped out of His way I am seeing Him everywhere! Things are changing so much in my house! My Hubby is leading us in nightly Bible studies. The children are more peaceful. Hubby is going back to school and God is blessing that. I can't wait to see what else will come now that I am out of the way of God!

Yes, my heart still hurts, but it is not that raw aching pain. It is a fleeting thought tinged with sadness but quickly replaced with joy that my baby is in heaven and I will see it again!

let His word fill the air

I can not stand a quiet house.
Something about it just makes the day go slower and be less productive.

Usually the TV is on just to have the noise since I don't have a radio. I got tired of having to switch TV channels every now and then because the content was getting racy or plain rude.

I ordered the Bible On DVD last week and it came rush order 3 days later.
Now I turn it on in the living room so the surround sound carries it through the whole house.

I love hearing His word filling my home!
I love hearing my children repeating scriptures that they know.
They are learning new verses without even knowing it.

Today we are listening to the Psalms.
How relaxing!
How uplifting!

Shew me Thy ways oh Lord teach my Thy path

Signs and Wonders

"But He answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
Signs and Wonders

DO YOU WONDER ABOUT THE SIGNS?

The signs of healing and deliverance do follow believers who walk in genuine authority...but the sign Jesus spoke of has already been given and He said there would be no other.

ISN’T THE DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURRECTION ENOUGH?

What an insult to God to ask for another sign or an additional sign. "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."

"And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him. And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and said, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation."

Why do you keep looking for signs? I tell you 75% of the people I see for deliverance are "sign seekers". The dabble in "prophecy" in a quest to be recognized as super spiritual. They go after territorial spirits in their prayer and talk, in an effort to appear spiritually superior. Their engagement in such opens their lives to great deception, and they chase after "they know not what". They strain at gnats and swallow camels. They are in all of the "new movements" the "fresh fires" "the river" … it goes on and on and not only are they duped, they become discouraged and eventually go nowhere.

I get "prophetic words" in my e-mail box almost daily, the only problem is they are not prophetic at all...not only are they seldom correct, they are never correct. I wonder, why are people so attracted to this? Why do we seek after more signs from God when we don’t even honor the sign that has already been given and will be the only sign given!

These people have to have special titles to enhance their deception. They call themselves "Prophet" "Apostle" or maybe some other lofty title and claim to hear directly from God. The Church has got to do better! Where are the genuine preachers who will proclaim the Blood of Jesus and the power of His resurrection.

Some of you reading this fall into this category. Generally, when this happens it is because the message has gone from focus on Jesus to focus on the Holy Spirit. I believe this so grieves the Holy Spirit that permission is gained by demons to deceive and to give false gifts and to deceive even as a "false" Holy Spirit. Jesus must be the focus. Genuine Holy Spirit filling will cause you to lift up Jesus.

The Holy Spirit desires no attention, He is honored when Jesus is magnified. While every gift of God’s Holy Spirit is legitimate and valid, virtually all of them have been mimicked, mocked and "adulterated"! Do you see why Jesus called sign seekers an "adulterous" people. They have polluted the simple, powerful message of the resurrection. Don’t chase signs!

I know folks who go to every seminar and meeting held, all of the conferences and have all of the tapes and materials and can’t seem to find peace, they constantly seek, I guess, thinking some day some how, thru some speaker they will hear the "magic" words. There are no such words. God’s Word has already been spoken and the sign has already been given. The resurrection of Jesus was and is the sign.

Mark 8:11, 12

I know of churches that have been virtually destroyed by venturing out of the realm of God’s Word, particularly by engaging in spiritual warfare beyond our realm of authority. If you want to damage your church, maybe destroy it, try going beyond what God’s Word teaches.

We have not been given authority in the heavenlies...you cannot take back what never was yours, principalities and powers have authority because it has been given to them by the sin and disobedience of people. Get the people saved, leave the principalities alone. They have rights by the people and until the people submit we have no rights to banish these spiritual kingdoms or "take back cities or communities" … we tread on very dangerous ground when we do this.

Listen, that’s not a casual observation, it is the voice of many years of experience with this! Don’t chase signs. Don’t engage in territorial warfare. It’s not wise and it ’s not scriptural. It’s not wise because it’s not scriptural.

Why not seek Jesus. If you want to be pure in your seeking and chasing. Chase Him, seek Him. The signs will follow you. Those who seek "signs and wonders" … I wonder about the wonders you seek. What sign has importance other than the death, burial and resurrection of God’s Son? May I just say in Love, don’t be seduced, don’t compromise the simple truth of God’s Word. Evil and adulterous people seek after signs...these are the Words of Jesus and they are for our admonition and spiritual safety.

I don’t think I can recall a period in my church life where there is so much deception being perpetrated upon Church-leaders by demons and upon church members by each other.

It is disgusting to those who are genuinely seeking to please God. Droves are being turned away from genuine relationship with Jesus by the godless, self-seeking, money-mongering, phony "prophets" …. While I have great spiritual disdain for these folks … I am equally disappointed by those in the body of Christ who perpetuate the problem by embracing and seeking after the phony message.

I have heard many solid messages about "not chasing the signs" about living a life that allows signs to follow...but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the church this far out of alignment from truth. The sign seekers are everywhere!

Jesus called a sign seeking generation an evil and adulterous generation. What strong words from the lips of Jesus! Does it seem to you that those who claim to have a gift of discernment cannot discern truth from error. Those who claim to be Holy Spirit baptized are the first to chase after that which is phony.

What’s happening here?

Matthew 12:39

Longing for home

I've been watching more than my share of political videos. The people of America are looking for a Savior. A messiah. They are weary of broken promises. They are weary of failing economies. Of war. Of hunger. Of emptiness.

It all seems to be hitting so hard and so fast. They're looking for answers.

For many, it seems that they have chosen their savior. Their messiah. I've watched several videos wherein celebrity after celebrity pledge their troth and place their hope in Obama. Yes we can. They herald him as the one who was to come. He has become that which their souls is longing for. Messiah.

There was a man who walked the earth two thousand years ago. When he looked around at the hungry and lost, he had compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. He fed them. And he met their physical needs. Not long after that, he sacrificed his own life in order to meet their spiritual needs.

Jesus is the Messiah. He is the Savior of the world. No politician, no earthly ruler, NO MORTAL MAN CAN EVER TAKE THAT ROLE. He clothed the naked, He fed the hungry, and He commissioned His Church to do the same. We are not to depend on a politician to meet our needs. They will fail. Any person who claims to believe in Christ that believes Obama or any other elected man can save this country needs to fall down on their face and repent before God-because they have surely left their first love. Jesus died ONCE and for all. Things will be rocky until He returns, but be sure, He IS coming back. And HE will establish His kingdom. HE and HE alone can bring about peace. Any other person who promises peace, and appears to be bringing it, be sure to look behind the curtain at the wizard of Oz with his lights and special effects. Behind the scenes, there will be loss of freedoms, loss of morality, and loss of lives.

Herod was a mortal man. He took all the praise that was to be placed on God. He kept that praise for himself. As a young child was bold enough to remind us, Obama would do well to reject the praise and glory that is being heaped upon him. Because antichrist or mere political starlet, he will meet the same end as Herod.

Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. Acts 12:23

America does need a Savior. Jesus is that Savior.

COME LORD JESUS!

too many loads?

This is a post I found and it really blessed me today.
Hope it blesses you as well.

Psalm 55:22 says, "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."

Does your burden seem heavy today? Too many loads of laundry, too many ungraded papers, half-finished art projects, or birthday cards left unwritten? Sometimes we are overwhelmed with all that has to be done as a homeschooling parent.God sees and knows your burdens. He cares and will provide the strength you need to face each day's tasks.

Matthew 11:28 tells us, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Just when you think you can't do another thing, trust God to send help in the most unexpected way. Homeschooling forces us parents into knowing that it is not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit that we are able to love and teach the children He has given us. Take heart and know that He will never leave you nor forsake you. After all, these are His children, and He will keep His promise to lift every burden you have.

Jesus loves me!

every now and then I get an email too good not to share-
enjoy

While watching a little TV on Sunday instead of going to church, I watched aChurch in Atlanta honoring one of its senior pastors who had been retiredmany years. He was 92 at that time and I wondered why the Church evenbothered to ask the old gentleman to preach at that age. After a warm welcome, introduction of this speaker, and as the applausequieted down he rose from his high back chair and walked slowly, with greateffort and a sliding gate to the podium. Without a note or written paper ofany kind he placed both hands on the pulpit to steady himself and thenquietly and slowly he began to speak....'When I was asked to come here today and talk to you, your pastor asked meto tell you what was the greatest lesson ever learned in my 50 odd years ofpreaching. I thought about it for a few days and boiled it down to just onething that made the most difference in my life and sustained me through allmy trials. The one thing that I could always rely on when tears andheartbreak and pain and fear and sorrow paralyzed me... The only thing thatwould comfort was this verse......... 'Jesus loves me this I know. For the Bible tells me so.Little ones to Him belong,We are weak but He is strong.....Yes, Jesus loves me...The Bible tells me so.'When he finished, the church was quiet. You actually could hear his footsteps as he shuffled back to his chair. I don't believe I will ever forgetit.A pastor once stated, 'I always noticed that it was the adults who chosethechildren's hymn 'Jesus Loves Me' (for the children of course) during a hymnsing, and it was the adults who sang the loudest because I could see theyknew it the best.''Senior version of Jesus Loves Me'Here is a new version just for us who have white hair or no hair at all. For us over middle age (or even those almost there) and all you others checkout this newest version of Jesus Lo ves Me.JESUS LOVES MEJesus loves me, this I know,Though my hair is white as snowThough my sight is growing dim,Still He bids me trust in Him.(CHORUS)YES, JESUS LOVES ME..YES, JESUS LOVES ME..YES, JESUS LOVES MEFOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.Though my steps are oh, so slow,With my hand in His I'll goOn through life, let come what may,He'll be there to lead the way.(CHORUS)When the nights are dark and long,In my heart He puts a song.Telling me in words so clear,'Have no fear, for I am n ear.'(CHORUS)When my work on earth is done,And life's victories have been won.He will take me home above,Then I'll understand His love(CHORUS)I love Jesus, does He know?Have I ever told Him so?Jesus loves to hear me say,That I love Him every day.(CHORUS)

Grace lesson

every now and then I get an email too good to not post-

enjoy

I left work early so I could have some uninterrupted study time right before the
final in my Youth Issues class. When I got to class, everybody was doing their
last minute studying. The teacher came in and said he would review with us
for just a little bit before the test. We went through the review, most of it right
on the study guide, but there were some things he was reviewing that I had
never heard of. When questioned about it, he said that they were in the book
and we were responsible for everything in the book. We couldn't really argue
with that. Finally it was time to take the test. "Leave them face down on the desk until everyone has one and I'll tell you to
start," our prof instructed. When we turned them over, every answer on the test was filled in! The bottom
of the last page said the following: "This is the end of the Final Exam. All the answers on your test are correct. You will receive an 'A' on the final exam. The reason you passed the test is because
the creator of the test took it for you. All the work you did in preparation for this
test did not help you get the A. You have just experienced...grAce." He then went around the room and asked each student individually, "What is your grade? Do you deserve the grade you are receiving? How much did all your studying for this exam help you achieve your final grade?" Now I am not a crier by any stretch of the imagination, but I had to fight back
tears when answering those questions and thinking about how the Creator has passed the test for me. Discussion afterward went like this: "I have tried to teach you all semester that
you are a recipient of grace. I've tried to communicate to you that you need to demonstrate this gift as you work with young people. Don't hammer them; they
are not the enemy. Help them, for they will carry on your ministry if it is full of GRACE!" Talking about how some of us had probably studied hours and some just a few minutes but had all received the same grade, he pointed to a story Jesus told in Matthew 20. The owner of a vineyard hired people to work in his field and agreed to pay them a certain amount. Several different times during the day, he hired more workers. When it was time to pay them, they all received the same amount. When the ones who had been hired first thing in the morning began complaining, the boss said, "Should you be angry because I am kind?" (Matthew 20:15). The teacher said he had never done this kind of final before and probably would never do it again, but because of the content of many of our class discussions, he felt like we needed to experience grace. Have you thanked your Creator today because of the grace you've experienced?
