scalloped potatoes

1/2 cup chopped onions
1 glove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cup milk
3 medium potatoes
3/4 cup grated cheese

how to-
grease a 1/12 quart casserole dish and set aside
peel and thinly slice potatoes, onions and mince garlic

for sauce-
in a small saucepan cook onion and garlic in butter until tender but not brown. stir in flour, pepper and salt. add milk all at once. stirring with a whisk. coover and cook over medium heat until thick and bubbling

place half the sliced potatoes in the prepared casserole dish. cover with half the sauce. repeat layering. bake covered in a 350 degree oven for 35 minutes. uncover and bake 30 more minutes or until potatoes are tender

makes 4-6 servings
