Saturday was my 34th birthday :)
To start celebrating on Friday the children and I went to a local garage sale, out to breakfast, drove to a near by town for some junkin', went wading in the river and another stop for junkin' on the way home. Peanut picked up some old Bobsey Twin books and a older copy of Heidi, Bub found his name spelled out in antique wooden blocks, and Princess scored a "princess horse" for her dolls to ride. Hmmm my birthday and they get gifts?? LOL
Then we cleaned the WHOLE house and tackled ALL the laundry so there were be nothing but resting and fun for the weekend. We made my favorite dinner of hearty mac casserole and my oldest baked me a cake. Hubby brought home movies and we spend the night relaxing.
Saturday morning we made a surprise trip to north western Oklahoma to see my family. We haven't been up there since last November. We got to visit with my cousins, their children, my aunt and my mom. Mom helped me sew up some pillows since my machine is dead and fixed a dress I ripped. I snagged a few cuttings of her garden plants that I hope will root. We wanted to sort through family heirlooms for me to bring home but ran out of time. I did get a couple of framed art prints, my 2nd great grandmother's salt and pepper shakers and my Granny's porcelain dove nightlight Mom gave her on her 50th birthday. Going to plan another trip up there this fall to sort through everything and take Mom's spare room from storage closet to a sewing/guest room...that should take a week or so!
On Sunday morning the whole gang packed up and headed to the creek for a few hours of playing in the sand and catching minnows. My way too citified children had a blast getting sand in places they didn't know existed ;) By late afternoon everyone was tired and we needed to get on the road. We took a different route and shaved off an hour from the trip. BONUS! We stopped in Wichita Falls for dinner and arrived home just in time for bed...and for Hubby to get an emergency work call. :(
It was a good weekend. Now the fun of cleaning up the truck and unpacking. Not sure how we took so much stuff for a ONE NIGHT trip! *sigh*
