how would you answer?

Thanks to our dogs going through their first heat cycle and now being spayed my kiddos are learning the basics of biology.  Having to explain the physical changes the pups went through in a way a 6 yr old can understand was interesting.  I was feeling pretty happy with all my answers until Bub asked me one little question as I tucked him in bed.

"Mom, do women go into heat like dogs?"

uh
ummmm

I stammered out "uh sorta.... goodnight dear"

That didn't satisfy his curiousty one bit. GAH! HE started in on the SPECIFICS of the dogs' heat and asking if girls do the same thing. I pulled out his little Bible and read him a story. I know I know total cop out!

I'm thrilled he hasn't brought it up. I know it just a matter of time before he does ask again. Guess I better get my act together and have some age appropriate (and modest) answers.

CSI in training

Bub wants to be a police officer when he grows up
He made up his own CSI outfit-
life vest - bulletproof vest
binoculars
side arm
q-tips and containers for "trace"
and a badge hidden under his shirt tail so he can be undercover ;)

"MOM! You can't take my picture! Cause then people will know I'm a cop!!!'

observing his sisters during his undercover research

collecting "trace" from my prescription bottle with his q-tips

"I made this"

Right now Bub is into saying "I made that" or "I bought that" and of course "I sewed this for you"...

We were riding home from church on Sunday and he is telling us all about him making my mom's dress, buying my SUV from Walmart and the seats in it from Home Depot and how he had to put it together. I said "Bub you are full of it!" Bub, straight faced, rubs his belly and says "Yep I am full of it." We all burst into laughter

Precocious does not begin to describe this boy!

"ho-wee" praise

A couple days ago my children where happily (for once) doing chores. My oldest is on crutches due to an ankle injury so she was on laundry folding duty. My second daughter was on dishes and my son was being a 3 yr old and doing everything he could to 'help'.

We had the radio on a local Christian station and were enjoying the worship broadcasts and then they started the praise music.

I could hear my girls joining in and singing "Give You Glory" by Jeremy Camp.

Then I heard it!
My boy's first time to sing praises to his Lord!

From the dishwasher as he was unloading the silverware we hear "ho-wee ho-wee".
I looked over and he was smiling and singing while doing his chore. He never missed a beat and sang his heart out. Course the lonely word he sung was "ho-wee"

I felt blessed to hear it!

little Mr Man

Hubby has been out of town for a few days and so Bub decided, as usual, to take over as Mr Man in the house. He walks around talking in a deep voice and 'helping' me by barking orders at his sisters and making sure chores are being completed. He has even moved into my room at night to 'protect Momma' as he tells Daddy. It is precious! (and yes, I do stop him bossing his sisters)

The other he is laying in bed and something scared him. He quickly snuggled up tight and wanted held. I asked "Mr Man, are you afraid?" and he replied "I not Mr Man anymore I BUB! You call me Bub Momma cause I scared!"

He fell asleep in my arms with the sleepy town bus driving over his face (lightly finger tracing his features with my fingers) The next morning he was back to being Mr Man of the house again.

Nothing like a 3 yr old thinking he can fill Daddy's shoes. ;)

things kids say-

My son is very into superheroes like The Incredibles and goes around using his 'super hero' voice which is manly and deep...well as deep as a 3 yr old can muster.

The other night Hubby and I are in our room getting ready for bed and in comes the boy. He rushes in and assumes the position of 'super hero' which is the classic Super Man pose and begins his good nights.

"Night Dad," he says gruffly.
"Night buddy," Hubby teases which he knows upsets the boy when he is in full super mode.

Choosing to ignore Dad tonight he turns to me with "Good night Mom." I couldn't resist teasing him too so I replied back in my deepest voice "Night Mr Incredible!" This got him! He runs up and gets in my face and starts in "No, you not talk like this" (deep voice) "you talk like THIS" (making his voice as high and feminine as he can) "You say "Night Mr Credible" like this MOM!" (still high pitched as he can) The look was priceless! He could not get over his mom talking in the wrong voice like that!

After I had corrected myself and said good night properly he left to lecture the girls on the proper way to say goodnight. Hubby and I both were about rolling off the bed and saying "THAT was a $10,000 funny moment!"

Why do we never have cameras rolling when these things happen!?

I am sitting here coughing and choking I am laughing so hard just from remembering!
