Woke up Friday to my son yelling, "MOM!! The fish tank is EMPTY but the pump is running! The floor is soaked too!" I ran out to find just barely enough water for my biggest Molly fish to swim in and my living room flooded. :(
Quick trip to Petsmart, who just happened to be having their Labor Day sale (praise G-D!), and I was home with a new tank twice the size I had.
Barely 2 hours later Patriot, my Great Dane with the heart issues, decided it would be grand if she puked up blood all over the bed she was on. I googled her symptoms and came up with bloat being the best fit. So instead of volleyball practice we rushed to the vet. Somehow in getting on her leash she also cut her chin open and bled all over my car and herself. She looked miserable going into the clinic! Drs quickly gave her morphine and took her back for x-rays which showed no signs of bloat or blockage...no reason for the bloody vomit. :-/ $300 and a purse full of meds later we were sent home with the diagnosis of "mystery illness" and a stern warning that if she puked again we had to come back immediately for surgery. Great.
Patriot is on day 2 of meds and seems ok. She still doesn't want to eat but I can't blame her. The antibiotic is super strong and very nasty tasting according to vet. She is enjoying being even more spoiled ;)
Good thing I love my pets cause they are good source of stress and a lighter wallet
